FDLTCC Volleyball Begins 2010 Season

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women’s volleyball team was welcomed by first year head coach Laura Sylvester earlier this week. The Thunder met the media during a practice session on Wednesday afternoon with a roster that is chock full of local talent.

Rachel Sanda and Amber Gregg, both of Cloquet High School, are joined by 9 other players many of whom are from the immediate area. Rita Aspinwall is from Elk River, but her family is from the Cloquet Area. Carlton High School is represented by both Holly Nelson and Katrina Anderson, Wrenshall’s Heidi Jurek and LaRena Evazich are also on the team, Mali Fonoti will represent AlBrook High School and Brittany Erhardt of Duluth Denfeld will also be a member of this year’s squad.

“I am very honored to work with a great group of student-athletes,” mentioned Sylvester in a press release. “Coaching is my passion, so I am thrilled to bring my energy and positive attitude to this team.”

The roster is rounded out by players Littlefork-Bigfalls and East Central.

Sylvester played high school sports at AlBrook High School and then moved on to play college basketball at UMD.

The Thunder will open their season on September 1st at Rainy River Community College in International Falls.
