Mid-Summer Mayham returned to the Proctor speedway on Friday night. The highlight of the event was school bus races, other items on tap to entertain the capacity crowd were pure stocks and trailer racing.

Tim Herstad took the win in the United Truck Body bus, which was one of the fastest buses on the track. Jack Lane captured second place honors with one of two Cloquet Transit busses. Lane’s bus with an inline diesel engine didn’t have the speed to keep up with the front of the pack, which turned out to be a good thing when several busses locked horns and took each other out, allowing Lane to make his move on the final lap. Shawn Ziells ened up in third place after losing a battle for the lead with Herstad with only one lap to go.

Glenn Dammer made the most of a late restart to win the Pure Stock feature after starting in the fifth row. The win was huge due to the fact that the race paid out double the normal purse and points.
