Bombers Will Play In Section Finals

The Bombers bounced Eveleth-Gilbert from the section 7AA playoffs with a 64-54 victory at UMD Tuesday night to advance to the Section finals in their first season as a AA basketball program.

The Bombers flew out to the 41-21 lead at half. The Golden Bears would attempt to battle back, outscoring the Bombers 33-23 in the second half, but the Bombers would hold onto the victory.

Brandon Newman and Zac Carlson led to Bombers in the win. Newman would hit a game high 26 points and Carlson would notch 22 points in the winning effort. Andrew Naslund would follow them with 6 points, Chase Peterson and Mitchell Weller both notched 4, and Nathan Jelinek topped it off with 2.

The Golden Bears were led by William Olson with 14 points in the loss. Austin Hujanen followed with 13 points, Mark Tikkanen tallied 9, Jake Laeupple added 8, CJ Andrews pitched in 6, and Austin Erickson topped the night off with 4.

 

The Golden Bears ended their season with a 16-12 record. The Bombers improve to 26-2 and will play the defending Section 7AA champions, the Esko Eskomos (25-3) on Thursday, March 6th at UM-Duluth’s Romano Gym. Tipoff with be at 7 PM.
