Eskomos Freeze Gobblers

The Eskomos basketball team took on the Aitkin Gobblers in the Quarterfinals of the Section 7AA playoffs Saturday evening at Romano Gym on the campus of the UM-Duluth.

The Eskomos would gain the early advantage, getting up by as many as 10 points in the first half and taking a 7 point lead into the half. The Eskomos would get on a 8-0 run to start the second half and would never look back as they would storm past the Gobblers with a 66-40 victory.

The Eskomos were lead by Kory Deadrick who had 28 points including a couple of dunks. Jaxson Turner followed him with 11, Marc Peterson added 10, Casey Staniger pitched in 9, Jacob Lindstrom tallied 6, and Nate Johnson topped it off with 2.

The Gobblers were lead by Nathan Ehnstrom who had a team high 19 points. Kyle Thompson added 8 for Aitkin, Jake Lynn scored 6, Ryan Anderson added 4, and Logan Quade notched 3 in the loss.

The Aitkin Gobblers end their season with a 13-14 record, while the Eskomos improve to 24-3 on the season and will play the Proctor Rails (11-15) in the Section 7AA Semifinals on March 4th at UM-Duluth with a 7:30 tip-off.
