The awards continue to roll in for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder women’s softball team. Last week it was announced that four players from last year’s team were named to the Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference All-State All-Academic Team.

“We are so proud of the players who achieve academic success,” said Coach Kerry Rodd. “All of our players work hard in the classroom, but for them to achieve this really tells everyone that this is a great academic institution that is a good fit for local kids.”

Leading the group was Esko’s Megan Johnson. Johnson was recently named to the Division XIII First Team for her playing prowess and because of that, along with her academic achievement, Johnson will receive a plaque recognizing her stellar career.

“Megan is a great student and a great player,” commented Rodd. “She was a high achiever on the field, but her studies are most important and she did a nice job of balancing both.”

Three freshmen will also receive certificates from the MCAC for their award. Lisa Muehlberger, Dana Letica and Holly Nelson all were named along with Johnson to the All-Academic Team.

“All three of those student-athletes are just good people,” mentioned Rodd. “They prove that we can have good students and good athletes at the school and they should be so proud of their accomplishments!”
