Bombers storm past Rebels

The Barnum Bombers topped the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels for the third time this season, and in what was the most important meeting of the year it was the Bombers knocking off the Rebels 61-57 at UMD in the section 7AA quarterfinals.

The Rebels who started fast with two 3-pointers from Charlie Adamczak saw a tough battle that would go back and forth as finally it was the Rebels holding a one point lead at halftime 30-29.

The Bombers responded in the second half as it was Brandon Newman who would lead the way scoring 29 points in the Bombers effort, including three-3-pointers as the Bombers outscored the Rebels in the second half 32-27 and managed the four point victory.

Zac Carlson added 11 points in the win, Tory Slater and Andrew Naslund each finished with 6, Mitchell Weller had 5, and Nate Jelinek scored 4 for the Bomber who now improve to 25-2 on the season.

The Rebels were led by Matt Mach who scored 17 points Saturday afternoon including four 3-pointers. Adamczak finished with 14, Brad Fossum chipped in with 10, Rex Janke added 9, Ike Pedersen added 5, and it was Ezra Szczyrbak with 2 points.

The Rebels finish their season with an overall record of 17-10. The Bombers advance to the section semi-finals Tuesday night where they will face Eveleth-Gilbert who upset the Virginia Blue Devils.
