Esse, Buchite Lead UWS Recruitment Class

UW-Superior Head Women’s Hockey Coach Dan Laughlin has announced the 2010-2011 recruit class at a press conference on Tuesday at UWS.
Courtney Esse of Cloquet leads the recruiting class of the 2010-2011 for the UWS Yellow Jackets. Also from Minnesota will be Hannah Buchite from Hermantown.

Esse, a 2010 graduate of Cloquet has been a pivotal player and leader for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks over the past several seasons. Esse led the Lumberjacks this season with 31 total points. She finished with 15 goals and 16 assists, two of her goals were short handed.

The rest of the 2010-2011 recruiting class includes Jenn Paul from Paynesville, Minnesota, three players from Michigan; Allison Shirt, Bailey Lane, and Amy Torgerson, five women from Canada;
Teal Crosson, Shaye Nelissen, Sheryl Kaskiw, and Shanelky Peters (Manitoba),
Kelsey Firkus (British Columbia).

Esse joins Coach Dan Laughlin, who enters his seventh season as the head women’s hockey coach for the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets with an overall record of 119-39-11. UWS finished the 2009-2010 season with an overall record of 18-9-2.
