The Carlton Bulldogs were looking to match their total wins from last year on Thursday afternoon.
That is exactly what they did
when they
beat the Floodwood Polar Bears 7-6
in Floodwood. This was a big Polar League win for the Bulldogs
because they are still fighting for the Polar League championship.

“We have a lot of games over this three week stretch,” head coach Scott Battaglia told Northland Sports Online. “It’s nice to get the wins and play good ball.” The Bulldogs have now won two games in a row and look to make it three Friday afternoon.

The big hit for the Bulldogs came in the top of the sixth inning when, with the score tied at 6-6, Jordan Thompson hit a solo home run to give Carlton the lead.
They would hang on to win the game by one run.

Joey Broneak led the Bulldogs with a 3-4 performance from the plate and
he added
3 RBIs as well. Broneak was also the winning pitcher, coming into the game in the fifth inning in relief of Chaise Jokinen.

The Bulldogs
host the Ely Timberwolves Friday afternoon and on Saturday they play at Hill City. The Bulldogs improve their record to 6-4 on the season. The Polar Bears fall to 2-4 and play at home Monday against Hill City.
