Esko won both the boys and girls division of the Section 7A South Subsection Track Meets held at Malosky Stadium on the campus of UMD on Wednesday. The Eskomo girls garnered 166 points and the boys finished with 143.5 points as they both easily won over their nearest competition.

In the boys division, Esko won first place in the discus, shot put, the triple jump and the pole vault, all of which helped solidify a win. Luke Halverson won the disc with a throw of 139′ 1″, in the shot it was Cody Salo throwing 46′ 1/2″, Max Reinertson won the triple jump at 41′ 8 3/4″, and in the pole vault it was Phil Wirtz going 12′ 6″ to win. Esko also won the 1,600 relay with Adam Ryan, Tony Wilcox, Adam Eskuri and Nick Anderson finishing in 3:35.7. The Eskomo 3,200 relay team of Brock Anderson, Eskuri, Jackson Lundquist and Wirtz also nabbed first place.

Two Harbors, who finished second in the meet, got a first place in the 100 meter dash from Chad Breilie, while Chris Carlson of Proctor won the 200 with Two Harbor’s Ryan Guentzel taking second. In the 400 meter dash it was Carlson of Proctor outdueling Mark Hoge of Crosby-Ironton in a tight finish. Barnum’s Hans Halverson took a nearly two second win in the 800 meter event.

In the distance events it was Jackson Lindquist of Esko winning the 3,200 meter race and Patrick Sheedy of Duluth Marshall finishing first in the 1,600 meters.

Other winners included Two Harbors in the 400 and 800 relays, Zach Wolstrom of Moose Lake-Willow River in the high jump and Caleb Hamp-Sill of Two Harbors in the long jump.

Alyson Glumac of Esko won the 100 meter dash and then was involved with the winning 400 and 800 relay teams. In the 400 relay it was Glumac, Amanda Belden, Amanda Bergstedt and Katie Tonner taking top honors. In the 800 it was Glumac, Erika Shady, Kelsey Mudek and Tonner. Esko also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays. In the 1,600 it was Dallas Cossalter, Katie Tonner, Kate Shelerud and Mudek taking first, while the 3,200 it was Kailee Kiminski, Kailyn Knutson, Shelerud and Marisa Shady taking top honors.

Cossalter finished second to Glumac in the 100 meter dash, Lacey Myrdal of Two Harbors won the 200 meters, and in the 400 meter dash it was Myrdal again finishing first. The 800 was won by Cook County’s Ailee Larson with Esko’s Shelerud finishing second. Kailee Kiminski of Esko took the 1,600 over Hailey Radel of Moose Lake-Willow River. September Prushek of Crosby-Ironton was a winner in the 3,200.

Natasha Dregicevich of Moose Lake-Willow River was a double winner in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.

Aitkin’s Carissa Herron won the high jump over Esko’s Janae Beaudot, while Hinckley-Finlayson’s Cassidy Dunkley won the pole vault. In the long jump it was Katie Tonner of Esko taking first, while the triple jump was won by Michelle Graff on Hinckley-Finlayson with Glumac taking second.

Alycia Bonneville of Barnum was the winner in the discus and Vanessa Hudrik of CI won the discus.
