The Hermantown Hawks and Superior Spartans squared off Tuesday night and they would end up skating to a 2-2 tie.

The scoring kicked off in the second period when Superior took advantage of a power play when Aaron Miller scored on a goal assisted on by Tyler Nystrom and Jesse Polson. Hermantown would notch it up at the 10 minute mark when they took advantage of a power play themselves when Ryan Kero hit the back of the net. Scott Wasbotten and Nate Pionk assisted on the goal.

In the third period, Hermantown would gain the 2-1 lead when Parker Hawk gave them the lead of a goal from a Josh Helmer pass. Superior wouldn’t fold there however, when Miller scored his second goal of the night on another goal assisted by Nystrom to tie it up 2-2, which would be the final score on the evening.

Paxton Paine saved 43 shots for the Spartans, while Hermantown’s Jace Thomas stopped 24.

The Hawks move to 18-4-2 on the season and will end their regular season when they play Hibbing/Chisholm (10-12-1) on February 14th. The Spartans end their season at 10-11-1 on the season and will play their next game in the playoffs against an opponent TBD.
