The Barnum Bombers traveled to McGregor on Thursday looking to pick up their second win in a row. The Bombers came back after trailing early to down the Mercuries 6-3 and pick up the Polar League Conference win.

The Bombers won their second game in two days and are trying to get back to the five hundred mark. The Bombers “had to manufacture runs,” Head Coach Dave Duesler told Northland Sports Online. “We only had three hits so we had to take advantage of other situations.” Barnum, trailing 3-1 going into the top of the fifth inning, took their first lead as the Bombers scored four runs to take a 5-3 lead.

Kyle Duesler came through in the top of the fifth inning when he had a huge two run single that put the Bombers ahead. Kyle Duesler had two of the three Barnum Hits on the afternoon. Alex Hassett had the other lone hit for Barnum.

Josh Hogan picked up his first varsity win as he came in to the game in the fourth inning; as starting pitcher Erik Johnson was struggling to find the plate. Hogan pitched three and two-thirds innings to get the win; he gave up no runs only two hits, while striking out five McGregor Batters.

The Bombers now improve to 3-4 on the season and they are in action on Saturday at East Central when they will play two games, one against East Central and the other against Cromwell. McGregor falls to 2-7 on the year, and will play in the Onamia Tournament this Saturday.
