Lady Bombers Pick Up Home Win Behind Hultgren’s 12 Strikeouts

The Barnum Bombers evened their season record on Friday afternoon as the Bombers shut out the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars in a non-conference match-up at Barnum. The Bombers, playing only their second game of the season due to field issues at Barnum, shut out the Jaguars after losing their first game of the season to Duluth Denfeld.


The Bombers had two games cancelled this week and were coming off a 13-0 loss to the Hunters over a week ago, rebounded extremely well as the Bombers shut out the Jaguars behind a strong pitching performance from sophomore pitcher Lauren Hultgren. Hultgren struck out 12 Jaguars on the way to her first shutout win of the season.


The shutout was the second of Hultgren’s varsity career as she had her first shutout last season in a 10-0 victory over East Central. In the win over the Jaguars on Friday, Hultgren walked only one batter to go along with her 12 strikeouts to pick up her first win of the season.


The Bombers had things going offensively as well with 10 hits on the afternoon and took advantage of four walks mixed in their as well. Karianna Duesler was 3-3 on the afternoon and she had two doubles and a RBI. Allianie Hanek-Siltanen was 2-3 and she also had two extra base hits a double and a triple.


MJ Anderson was also 2-3 Friday with 2RBI’s, she also stole two bases and scored 2 runs. Sophomore Olivia Angell was 1-2 with a single, Angell also finished with two RBI’s in the Barnum shutout victory on Friday.


With the victory Barnum evens its season record to 1-1 overall and they will face a busy this week as they will have four games starting out Monday when they will face Floodwood at Floodwood High School. Tuesday they will play at Chub Lake Park in Carlton as they face the Bulldogs. Thursday they are home as they play McGregor in their third straight Polar League game and on Saturday they will take on the Pine City Dragons at Pine City.
