Football season is finally back and the Cromwell-Wright Cardinals are looking to repeat as Section 5 9-man champions for the fifth consecutive season.

The Cardinals went 11-1 last season and will look to continue their dominance throughout 9-man. They open their season up on August 30th, when they travel to play North Woods, who went 9-2 a season ago.

The Carlton Bulldogs, who have a new head coach in Jason Crane, finished last season with a 3-6 record. They return a large portion of their roster, as they open up at home on August 31st against Littlefork-Big Falls, a team they beat 28-0 last season.

The Wrenshall Wrens will look to follow up last years 8-3 record with another successful season. The Wrens, who graduated a lot of their roster, will open the season up on the road against Hill City/Northland on August 30th.

The McGregor Mercs finished last season with a 5-4 record. They’ll look to improve on that this season when they open their season on the road against Lake of the Woods on August 31st. Lake of the Woods finished 0-9 last season.

The South Ridge Panthers continued their success last season, going 6-4 to notch their sixth consecutive winning season. They will look to put together another winning year when they host Isle on August 31st.

The Floodwood Polar Bears finished with a 6-4 record a year ago. They will look to improve this season, opening their season up at Mountain-Iron Buhl against the Rangers, a team who finished with a 7-3 record last season.
