Sophie McGovern and MiKayla Kero each netted a hat trick Thursday night as the Mirage knocked off the Lady Rebels of Moose Lake Area by a score of 8-1 in a section battle in Proctor.

The Rebels and the Mirage looked to be two of the top teams in section 7A this winter sports season and looking at shot on goal it went the favor of the Mirage 23-19, but it was Mirage goalie Amy Lemenager who only allowed one goal in the victory Thursday evening.

The Mirage struck three times in the first period building a 3-1 lead after one period. Kero scored the games first two goals to give the Mirage a 2-0 lead before Lauren Pederson scored for the Rebels to cut the lead to one at 2-1. McGovern scored her first goal of the game shortly before the end of the period as Proctor-Hermantown took a 3-1 lead into the break.

Kero , Callie Hoff, and Olivia Ospahl all scored in the second period to make it a 6-1 Mirage lead after two periods of play. McGovern scored two third period goals as the Mirage pick up the huge section victory.

McGovern and Hoff each finished with 4 points on the night and Lemenager finished with 18 save in the win. Maddy Gamst took the loss as she finished with 15 saves of the 23 shots she faced.
