Eskomos Begin Playoffs With A Big Win

The Esko Eskomos opened the Section 7AA playoffs with a win at home Wednesday night over the Mora Mustangs. The Eskomos came away with a twenty-one point win and now advance to the semi-finals at UMD on Saturday afternoon.


The Eskomos were paced by Jake Stainbrook, who scored a game high of 27 points to help the Eskomos advance. Esko used outstanding shooting to propel them to the victory, shooting 50% from the field in the first half. They then improved after the break to up their shot percentage to 71% in the second half. Averaged out, they
finished with an overall shooting percentage of 63%.


Mora could not have an answer to the hot shooting of the Eskomos, who jumped out to a halftime lead of 34-21. Esko continued to increase the margin in the second half with their blistering shooting and ability to move the ball. Adam Eskuri finished with a game high of nine assists.


Stainbrook’s 27 points came from 10-16 shooting from the field and going 8-11 from the free throw line. Jackson Lindquist was next in scoring for the Eskomos with 16 points, Adam Deveau chipped in with 15, Eskuri added 8 points, Sam Nigon added 5 points, Cody Townsend, Phillip Wirtz, and Andrew Wendland all ended with 2 points.


Jake Oslin and Tyler Ulseth led the Mustangs with 17 points each on the night, Andrew Good finished with 8 points for the Mustangs in the loss. The Mustangs finish their season with an overall record of 14-13.


Esko improves to 18-9 overall on the season and face the winner of Hinckley-Finlayson and Braham, who play on Thursday night in Braham. That game will be played at UMD at 2:45 Saturday afternoon.
