State Hockey Tournament Pairings Announced

The 2010 Minnesota single “A” State High School Boys Hockey Tournament brackets are now complete with Hermantown receiving the #3 seed. Hermantown, ranked #3 in the state, will face a familiar foe in the first round. The Virginia-MIB Bluedevils were awarded the slot opposing the Hawks by virtue of a random draw. The two will face off at 1:00pm on Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Hermantown beat the Bluedevils 4-2 earlier in the year at home on December 22nd.

Hermantown returns to the state tournament for the first time since winning the state championship in 2007. This is the second straight appearance for the Bluedevils.

Other first round Wednesday matchups have #2 seed Mahtomedi vs Alexandria in the tourney opener at 11:00 am. The #1 seed and #1 state ranked Breck will open the evening session with a 6:00 pm game against New Ulm. Rounding out the first day’s action is #4 Warroad taking on Rochester Lourdes at 8:00pm.

Double “A” action will also be at the Xcel energy center beginning with #2 Edina taking on Roseau at 11:00am on Thursday, followed by #3 Blaine vs Apple Valley at 1:00pm.

Leading off the nightcap will be #1 Minnetonka going up against Lakeville North. Duluth East will compete against #4 Hill-Murray in the nightcap Thursday at 8:00pm.
