Duluth Marshall and Appleton East would face off in the Hilltopper Holiday Classic on Thursday night and it would be a tough fought game as it would be a 2-2 after regulation and overtime, but the Appleton East Patriots would grab the win in a shootout, outscoring the Hilltoppers 3-2.

The scoring wouldn’t kick off until the second period, when the Hilltoppers would grab the 1-0 lead after Cam McClure would score just a minute into the period. Appleton East would notch it up at 1-1 just 4 minutes later when Carver Watson took advantage of the power play. Duluth Marshall would respond soon after with Anthony Miller scoring to give them the 2-1 lead.

The third period would be closely contested throughout with the Hilltoppers holding onto their lead until the 17th minute of the period, when Appleton Easts Benjamin Koester scored to send it into overtime!

There would be no scoring in the overtime, so they squared off in a shootout, where the Patriots would take the win, 3-2.

Duluth Marshall falls to 5-4 with the loss on the year and they will play Madison Edgewood at 1:00 PM this afternoon.
