Boys Basketball


Ely 58 AlBrook 54

The Ely Timberwolves picked up their fourth straight win Tuesday when they defeated the Falcons in the Section 7A contest in Ely. The loss for AlBrook snaps a three game win streak.


Cromwell 71 Carlton 48

Cody Smith scored 20 points and Jordan Smith added 15, helping the Cardinals defeat the Bulldogs in this Polar League matchup. Jake Adams led the Bulldogs in scoring with 22 points in the loss.


Cloquet 65 Esko 53

The Cloquet Lumberjacks built a two-point halftime lead of 30-28 and outscored the Eskomos by ten in the second half to win this non-conference game on the road. Andrew Wappes led all scorers with 26 points for Cloquet, while Adam Eskuri finished with 15 for Esko.


Wrenshall 44 Cook County 43

Bryce Schmidt scored 13 points as the Wrenshall Wrens have now won three of their last four games. Wrenshall led by three at halftime and held on for the one point win. Brock Hommerding led the Vikings with 15 points.


Grand Rapids 83 Hermantown 56

On Tuesday, the Thunderhawks outscored the Hawks by twenty-four points in the second half to win this section matchup. Michael Johnson scored 25 points for the Thunderhawks. Michael Swartz had 17 for Hermantown.

Girls Basketball


Ashland 59 Proctor 18

Catie Zepczyk led eleven Oredockers in scoring Tuesday night as they knocked off of the Rails in Proctor. Zepczyk scored 14 points to lead Ashland. Abbey Lundeen and Aubrey Knox both finished with 6 for the Rails.


ML-WR 66 Hermantown 63

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels continue to play inspired basketball and for the second time in four days they knocked off an AAA school. Natasha Dragicevich scored 23 points for the Rebels, while Jessica Love finished with 25 for Hermantown.


Cook County 77 Wrenshall 12

Cook County built up a 40-point half time lead and cruised to the huge win at Wrenshall on Tuesday night. The Vikings were led by Molly Zaft, who scored 12 points for Cook County. Taylor Dagger finished with seven points for Wrenshall.


Cloquet 48 Duluth Central 37

The Cloquet Lumberjacks overcame shooting only 25% from the field to beat the Duluth Central Trojans by eleven at home Tuesday night. Annabel Morrisroe scored 24 points and had 15 rebounds for Cloquet. Sami Vezina had 20 for the Trojans.


Babbitt Embarrass 74 AlBrook 68

The Knights broke a 37-37 tie at halftime to outscore the Falcons in the second half, winning this St. Louis County contest Tuesday night at AlBrook. Jessie LaValley finished with 19 points for the Knights. Alyssa Johnson had 19 for AlBrook.
