Houle’s Three-Pointer Helps Thunder Men To Victory

Thunder forward Curtis Houle (Barnum) hit the game-winning three-point shot with 20 seconds to play. The Thunder held off Itasca with a defensive stop and steal in the final seconds to beat them 68-67 at home on Wednesday.


Houle led the Thunder scoring with 17 points, Travis Huesers (Cass Lake) put in 10 points and point guard LaDarius Frazier (Kansas City) added 10 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds in the win. The Thunder came back from a17-point deficit early in the first half.


Thunder guard Justin Roberts (Tallahassee) pulled down 12 rebounds and had 3 steals to lead the Thunder defensive effort.


League-leading Itasca kept the Thunder women winless on the season with an 80-46 victory in Cloquet on Wednesday night. Lisa Muehlberger (Duluth Central) led the Thunder with a season-high 25 points and Brady Donnahue (Floodwood) added 20 points and nine rebounds for the Thunder.


Next up for the Thunder squads are road games at Mesabi Range Community and Technical College on Saturday, February 13.
