MLA Boys Get 7-4 Win Over Burnett

A strong second period helped lead the Moose Lake Area boys hockey team to a 7-4 win over Burnett, Wisconsin on Tuesday night. The Rebels rode a 4-goal second period to the win.


Tyler Cisar gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead at 1:20 of the first period with an unassisted goal, but Burnett tied the game with just 1:59 remaining in the period to make it 1-1 after the opening stanza.

Zach Cisar made it 2-1 just 59 seconds into the second period with Ville Mattala and Josh Cisar assisting for the Rebels. The Rebels went ahead 3-1 when Mattala scored just 12 seconds later with Josh and Tyler Cisar assisting. MLA pushed the lead to 4-1 with a power play goal at 3:26 as Adam Ryan scored from Josh Cisar, and finally Chris Gassert closed out the second period scoring for the Rebels with a shorthanded goal at 12:41 with Mattala picking up the assist.

Burnett pulled to within 5-2 just 23 seconds into the third period on the power play, but the Rebels answered with Ryan’s second goal of the game at 6:18 to push the lead back to 6-2. Burnett then scored back-to-back goals at 14:26 and 16:40. However, Mattala scored to end the game with just 10 seconds left in regulation.

Austin Lanoue made 23 saves for the Rebels and Thomas Labatt finished with 21 saves for Burnett.
