Cloquet’s three sport athlete, Jerahvenne RaRa Jones, has signed his national letter of intent to play football for St. Cloud State University. The Cloquet senior has signed to say that he will be a part of the Huskies football team beginning next August. Jones chose the Huskies over Minnesota State University in Mankato.

Jones, a senior standout for Cloquet, will be playing head coach Scott Underwood, who will be entering his third season as the head coach of St. Cloud State. The Huskies were 7-4 last season and 8-3 in Underwood’s first season in 2008.

Jones was a part of the Cloquet Lumberjacks football team that went 7-2 overall on the season and was 6-1 in conference play–the best finish for a Lumberjack team since the mid 1980’s. Jones played as a receiver and was also involved in the running game as well for the Jacks.

“RaRa will be joining a talented group of receivers within this recruiting class,” head coach Underwood told Northland Sports Online. “It is our hope that his speed & athleticism, combined with his big play capabilities will add to our capacity to be a more explosive offense.”
Underwood continued on to say, “Our immediate hope is to red shirt all our incoming freshman, but he will have an opportunity to compete for a spot when we open camp in August.”

Jones, also a part of the basketball team, is currently enjoying his best season on the hard court this year for the Lumberjacks. He is also a part of Cloquet’s track and field team in the spring sport season.
