A pair of power play goals midway through the third period helped the Duluth Marshall boys hockey team overcome a gutty effort by Cloquet-Esko-Carlton and take away a 2-1 home victory over the Jacks.

CEC scored the games first goal at 11:51 of the first period on a tally by Kyle Klatt with assists to Hunter Roberts and Jack Kuhlman.  That 1-0 lead stood up for the Jacks until the third period.

Marshall took advantage of back-to-back power plays in the third period with their first goal coming at the 7:31 mark of the period on a goal by Luke Pavelich with Peter Lenz and Kyle McKinzie adding assists.  The game-winning goal for the Hilltoppers came at 8:43, again on the power play, when Anthony Miller scored unassisted to make it 2-1 for Marshall.

Marshall tossed 31 shots on CEC goalie Zack Strom who finished with 29 saves, while CEC put 23 shots on Marshall goalie Alex Murray who finished with 22 saves
