Bonicatto save 42 shots as Golden Bears and Rebels Tie

Eveleth-Gilbert goalie Cora Bonicatto stopped 42 shots Tuesday night as the Golden bears of Eveleth-Gilbert and Moose Lake Area skated to a 1-1 tie at Riverside Arena in Moose Lake.

The Golden Bears Sam Mugge scored the game’s first goal at 14:11 of the first period to give Eveleth-Gilbert a 1-0 lead through the first period.

Karina Cisar tied the contest at 1-1 when Cisar scored the game tying goal at 9:12 of the second period. Cheyenne Wilson and McKenzie Louzek had the assists for the Rebels.

The Rebels who peppered Bonicatto all night long were unable to slip the puck past the Golden Bear goalie. The third period and overtime were scoreless as the teams skated to the 1-1 tie.

Moose Lake net minder Cassie White finished with 13 saves in the game for the Rebels Tuesday night.

The Rebels move to 3-3-1 on the season and they will face Chisago Lakes next Tuesday night in Lindstrom.

The Golden Bears move their season record to 0-2-2 overall this season and they will face Princeton-Big Lake- Becker Friday night in Princeton.
