PHM Falls To #1 Ranked Warroad

Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall found out just how good the #1 ranked Class A girls team in the state of Minnesota really is. The Mirage, playing at home in Hermantown, was throttled by the Warroad Warriors 8-0 in a game that went into running time. In fact, Warroad outshot the Mirage 39-16 in picking up the road win.

The Warriors scored three times in the first period in taking a 3-0 lead. It took just 1:21 into the game for Brook Story to score with assists going to Lisa Marvin and Beth Olson. Then it was Karley Sylvester scoring at 4:26 and finally Hannah Johnston added a score at 11:31.

The second period saw more of Johnston and Marvin and the Warriors were up 5-0 through two periods. In the final period, the Warriors added three more goals and actually sent the game into running time 5:32 into the period when Layla Marvin scored. Sylvester added a goal just 28 seconds later and then she completed the hat trick at 16:27.

For the game, Sylvester had three goals and Johnston added a pair of goals for the Warriors, who had beaten Superior 13-0 on Friday night. In fact, not only did the Warriors beat them 13-0, they also out shot the Spartans 87-0 for the game.

Anja Morris stopped 31 shots in net for the Mirage, while her counterpart Shelby Amsley-Bensie recorded 16 saves and the shut out for the Warriors.
