Eskomos Top Toppers

The Esko Eskomos swept past the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers in section 7AA volleyball action Wednesday night at Esko High School. The Eskomos one of the two three seeds in the sectional tournament started fast and battled in each game of the match as they defeated the Hilltoppers 3-0.

The Eskomos opened the first match of the night with a hard fought 25-19 win to take a 1-0 lead, The Eskomos made it 2-0 when the Eskomos won the second game of the match 25-15.

The Eskomos completed the sweep in the third game of the match as the Eskomos again won 25-15 to pick up the win and advance to the quarterfinals on Friday night where they will face the Cloquet Lumberjacks. Cloquet swept Crosby-Ironton on Wednesday night.

The Eskomos were led by Christaia Houser who finished with 3 ace serves, she also added 5 blocks and 10 kills on the night. Courtney Johnson added 27 set assists and she chipped in with 5 blocks. Judy Wagemaker had 6 digs and 7 kills, and Mary Pelletiar stepped up with 3 ace serves.

The Marshall Hilltoppers were led by Madeline Schenk who had 10 set assists and she also added 2 ace serves in the loss, and Briana Anderson had 4 kills for Marshall.

The Eskomos improve to 19-8 overall on the season and they will face Cloquet on Friday night at 7:30 at Proctor High School. Duluth Marshall finishes the season with a overall record 9-16-1.
