Volleyball Playoffs Kick-off Monday

  The first round of sectional play in volleyball kicked off on Monday night with Section 7A action in full swing.

First round round winners in Section 7A Subsection 1 were; Cook County which defeated Fond du Lac Ojibway 3-1, Floodwood who defeated Silver Bay 3-0 and Barnum took a 3-0 victory over Lakeview Christian Academy.  The only score in Section 7A not reported was Wrenshall at Northland.

Winners in Subsection 2 in Section 7A were; Deer River over Mesabi East, Northwoods downing Nashwaulk/Keewatin, Mountain Iron-Buhl beating Ely and Cherry took a 3-0 win over Bigfork.

Meanwhile Section 7AAA and Section 7AA will open play on Wednesday.  In Section 7AA it will be  Pine City at #1 Mora, #2 Cloquet hosting Crosby-Ironton, #3 Esko hosting Duluth Marshall and #4 seeded Aitkin will host Moose Lake-Willow River the #5 seed.
