Hunters top Hawks in Section Final

   Denfeld and Hermantown squared off in the Section 7A girls soccer championship on Thursday night at Public Schools Stadium.  The game resembled a push-me, pull-me toy with both teams having quality chances to score only to have the ball sail wide or hit a post.  The game ended scoreless through regulation and overtime and was not decided until the Hunters nailed down the title with a 3-1 shootout victory.

  In the shootout the Hunters got goals from Emily Fleissner, Kaylee Rackliffe and Taylor Olson while the Hawks lone shootout goal came from Britta Savre.

The goaltenders were busy throughout the game with Denfeld goalie Megan Lazzaro making eight saves and Hermantown goaltender Allison Samberg finishing with 12 saves.

  Hermantown, the #1 seed, dropped to 14-2-3 on the season, while Denfeld is 13-3-1.
