Jacks Open Playoffs with Win

Dom Tomaselli and Ben Pietsch provided the scoring punch while the rest of the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys soccer team provided the defense in Thursday’s 7-0 rout of Two Harbors in the Section 7 playoffs.

  Tomaselli scored back-to-back goals in the the 3rd and 13th minute to open things up quickly for the Jacks and then Pietsch jumped into the scoring column with goals in the 18th and 23rd minute to give CEC a 4-0 lead.  Rob Sobczak assisted on the second Tomaselli goal, while Tomaselli provided the assists on both of the goals by Pietsch.  Nick Barrett ended the first half scoring with Pietsch picking up an assist making it 5-0 before halftime.

  Tomaselli then ended any hopes of an Agate comeback by pounding home two more goals in the 69th and 76th minute to make the final 7-0.

  Halen Danielson needed to make just one save for CEC, while Agate goaltender Grant Anderson had 16 saves on 23 shots by CEC.

  The Lumberjacks now move to play on Saturday at 11am in the second round of the playoffs.
