Hawks Knock off CEC

The Hermantown Hawks used overall team strength and depth to defeat the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks 5-2 in girls high school tennis on Monday night.

Danielle Luke picked up a win at #1 singles for the Hawks by defeating CEC’s Lora Chalich 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.  The Hawks, who swept all of the singles matches, also picked up a win at #2 by Madelyn Miller who defeated Rosalie Lundquist 7-5, 6-2.  At #3 it was Bailey O’Conner knocking of CEC’s Kali Kadelbach 6-2, 6-1 and rounding out the singles shutout was Hawk’s #4 singles player Rebecca Henningsen who beat Lexi Robideaux 5-7, 6-2, 10-8.

Hermantown’s #1 doubles team of Anna VanDeelen and Mariah Ruhanen also notched a win by beating the CEC duo of Breanne Baker and Abby Wangen 6-1, 6-2.  CEC picked up a win at #2 doubles when Katelyn Litke and Arica Sheff won 6-4, 7-5 over their opponents and at #3 the CEC team of Katrina Smith and Courtney Ketola beat Brie Garcia-Meyers and Jordan Cuva 6-1, 6-1.
