Trying to keep statistics for the Moose Lake-Willow River football team can be very difficult because of their ability to put up big numbers offensively. On Tuesday night the statisticians probably ended up with writer’s cramp as the Rebels rolled to a 54-0 win over Hinckley-Finlayson in the Section 7AA quarter finals.

So dominant was the performance by the Rebels that they held a 34-0 lead at the end of the first quarter alone. By the second half, the Rebels were well into substitution mode and by the end of the game they had used over 10 players to carry the ball in the game.

Nick Kenemore started the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run on the Rebels first drive and Mike Bennett tacked on the extra point making it 7-0. Before the end of the first quarter, the Rebels had picked up four more scores. First, it was Austin Jacobson catching an eight yard touchdown pass from Hayden Hoffman. Then it was a nine yard run from Shane Rehbein, which was followed by a 64 yard touchdown scamper from Michael Unzen and finally it was Jacobson taking an intercepted pass 30 yards for the score. Bennett added extra point kicks on four of the five touchdowns and the Rebels held a 34-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Second quarter action saw the Rebels pick up two more touchdowns with Hoffman passing 23 yards to Unzen and Holden Olson scoring on a 10-yard touchdown romp. Bennett added the extra point on both scores and at halftime it was 48-0.

The final score of the game for the Rebels came in the fourth quarter when Adam Johnson plowed in for a four-yard touchdown run, making it 54-0.

In all, the Rebels had 16 players with at least one carry in the game. The Rebels were led by Unzen who finished with 106 yards on just five carries. Kenemore added 46 yards on four carries and Johnson finished with 42 yards on five carries.

Defensively, the Rebels posted another shutout and picked off three passes as well as recovering one fumble. ML-WR also had four quarterback sacks in the game with Lucas Probst picking up a pair of sacks and one each going to Chris Gassert and Spencer Clough.

ML-WR improves to 9-0 on the season and will host Braham (4-5) on Saturday at 2:00 in Willow River.
