Duluth East Captures Hibbing Invitational Tennis Tournament

The Duluth East Greyhounds took home first place over the weekend in the eight team Hibbing Invitational Tournament. The Greyhounds won three of the singles matches and also won one of the three doubles tournaments to finish with 32 points and were the tournament champions.

In the 1st singles it was the Greyhounds Elise Hauer who defeated Lexi Brascugli of Eveleth-Gilbert as East took their first singles win. The 2nd singles saw the Greyhounds Maya Callaway defeat Aimee Allen for the victory.

The 3rd Singles it was Elizabeth Quinn of Stillwater winning over the Greyhounds Kendra Berry, and in the 4th singles it was Daria Deibele capturing first with a won over Stillwater’s Hannah Glasrud.

In doubles Brynne Hauer and Annagrace Norr won the first doubles for the Greyhounds, and Bemidji won the second and third doubles for their lone two titles in the tournament.

The Greyhounds finnished six points ahead of Bemidji who placed second, Stillwater finished in third place, and it was Eveleth-Gilbert finishing fourth in the Tennis meet.
