Cromwell moves to 2-0

The Cromwell Cardinals moved to 2-0 on the season Friday night as the Cardinals knocked off Lake of the Woods by a score of 27-6 at Lake of the Woods High School in Baudette.

It was the Cardinals Quarterback Zion Smith who threw two touchdown passes in the first half that led Cromwell to a halftime lead of 27-0. Smith connected with Hunter Rauvola and Tristan Johnson on passes of 9 and 29 yards.

The Cardinals also scored on a rushing touchdown in the first half as it was Carter Karppinen scoring on a 15 yard touchdown run and Austin Pfisthner also threw a 29 yard touchdown pass to Johnson for his second score of the half.

The Bears could only manage one touchdown late in the fourth quarter when it was Cale Ubel scoring on a 7 yard touchdown run to put the Bears on the scoreboard but it was much to late as the Cardinals pick up the road victory.

The Cardinals improve to 2-0 on the season and they will take on the Carlton Bulldogs next Friday in Carlton. The Bears fall to 1-1 and they will face Northland next Friday night.
