Esko Boys, GIrls Finish 9th At Swain Meet

Grand Rapids won the AA girls title at the Swain Invitational Cross Country Run on Saturday at Enger Park Golf Course. The Cloquet girls team finished 21st.

Mt. Lake-Butter.-Odin was the class A girls winner; with Esko the top local team finishing in ninth place.

The Esko boys were also the top local team, matching the girls with a ninth place finish of their own.

The top local finisher was Carlton Sophomore Lidsey Dahl-Holm. Dahl-Holm finished seventh overall in class A with a time of 16:28.5, producing an average mile time of 6.37 Only 4 seconds behind her was Cromwell-Floodwood runner Sarah Chasson clocking in at 16:32.4

On the boys side, freshman Jackson Lindquist of Esko was the top boys class A finisher with a time of 17:19.6, good enough for a tenth place finish. Cromwell runner Jordan Smith finished fourteenth with a time of 17:29.5

In the boys sophomore division, Matt Welch of Proctor finished third with an impressive 14:28.2

Also of note was Hermantown seventh grader Ryan Kero finishing second in the 7-8 grade division with a time of 10:48.8, which translated to a 6:40 mile pace
