The Moose Lake – Willow River football team continued their winning ways on Friday night when they traveled to Deer River. Michael Unzen scored the first three touchdowns of the game and Austin Jacobson scored three different ways as the Rebels left town with the 39-6 win.

Unzen opened the scoring with a 60yd touchdown run in the first quarter. After the Michael Bennett kick, the Rebels led 7-0. Unzen scored again in the first quarter, this time on a 21 yard td run. The extra point was no good and with one quarter in the books, ML-WR was up 13-0.

In the second quarter, Unzen picked up where he had left off in the scoring department by scampering 3 yards for his third touchdown run. Jacobson then got his first points on the night by catching a Hayden Hoffman pass for the two point conversion and boosting the Rebels lead to 21-0

The third quarter belonged to Jacobson as he first scored on a 62 yard punt return for a touchdown and later ran in for a 6 yard score. Jacob Disterhaupt rounded out the ML-WR scoring with a 19 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Deer River avoided the shutout when a late 8 yard td run by Lucas Benson got the Warriors on the scoreboard.

Offensively Unzen finished the night with 177 yards on 13 carries. Jacobson had 11 carries for 93 yards plus the huge punt return td.

The Rebels were led on defense by Cody Schmidt and Nathan Vargas with 11 and 10 tackles each.

Moose Lake – Willow River will put their 20 game home winning streak on the line Friday when they host the Two Harbors Agates.
