Local Golfers Finish Season At State

ows_137109331172626_largeThe Hermantown Hawks Boys golf team finished strong as they took 4th place at the state tournament with a total of 464. That was just 21 strokes behind Staples-Motley with a 443. The Hibbing Bluejackets Girls team took 7th at 568 while Detroit Lakes repeated with a winning score of 448.

For the individuals on the Boys AA side the top performer was Josh Becks of the Hermantown Hawks. He finished 4th with a 109 just 5 shots out of first place. Dylan Kolquist shot a 115 which tied for 21st and Trent Sundbom had a 117 and tied for 29th. Both were from Hermantown.

In class AAA Brent Morrison of Cloquet shot a 166 which tied him for 70th place. He was the lone local to compete in the AAA tournament. There were no local boys in the class A tournament.

Leah Carey from Eveleth-Gilbert was the low score for the locals with a 136. She finished tied for 51st place. Vanessa Yeager shot a 138 for 55th place and Lexi Sosallia Tied for 56th with a 139. Both are from Hibbing.

In class A Brahams’ Caitlin Richmond tied for 7th with a 176. Alli Anderson shot a 194 finishing in 29th place. Jamie Bird from Barnum tied for 52nd scoring a 209. The lone local golfer in class AAA girls was Elle Carlson from Duluth East shooting a 179 tying her for 59th place.
