In what may be a first in Cloquet-Esko-Carlton hockey history, and maybe even in the state, four different Lumberjack players scored hat tricks in CEC’s 13-1 win over Cambridge-Isanti at Northwoods Credit Union Arena.

Karson Kuhlman, Westin Michaud, Nate Niemi and Drew Dincau had hat tricks and the Jacks outshot the Blue Jackets 62-9 in the game.

Drew Dincau started the scoring for the Jacks just :54 seconds into the game with an assist to Westin Michaud. At 5:40 it was Kuhlman from Beau Michaud and Westin Michaud and CEC was up 2-0. At 8:16 Beau Michaud added his second goal assisted by Westin Michaud. After a C-I goal from Colin Anderson the Jacks struck again at 15:06 when Niemi scored his first goal of the game assisted by Jack Kuhlman and the Karson Kuhlman ended the first period scoring at 16:23 from Dalton Johnson and James Newgren as CEC led it 5-1 after the opening period.

The Jacks added four more goals in the second period starting with Kuhlman’s third goal of the game at 4:46 from Westin Michaud and then Niemi’s second goal of the game at 5:52 unassisted. CEC built the score to 8-1 when Westin Michaud provided yet another goal at the 7:44 mark from Kyle Klatt and Dincau. The Jacks closed out the scoring in the second period when Dincau added yet another goal at 11:30 on the power play from Tanner Robideaux and CEC was up 9-1 after two periods.

Westin Michaud scored at 2:07 of the third period when Karson Kuhlman and Beau Michaud assisted as CEC went ahead 10-1. Things continued at a torrid pace for CEC at 2:36 when Niemi added another goal that was unassisted and at 14:00 it was Westin Michaud closing out his night in the goal column with a score from Ryan Lind. CEC’s final goal was scored by Dincau with Niemi and Kaleb Kadelbach notching the assist at 15:28.

The win improved the Jacks record to 4-2 on the season as they gear up for a showdown with Duluth East on Thursday night at the Heritage Sports Center in Duluth.
