Several Northland Area Football Players Named All-State

Several local players have been recognized to the all-state teams and or have been named honorable mention. The list is headed by Jake Disterhaupt of the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels who was named to the 1st team all-state team recently.


Disterhaupt which led the Rebels to a second place finish for the second consecutive season. Disterhaupt was named as one of three running backs named to the first team, along with Bridgeport Tusler of Osseo and James Onwualu of Cretin Derham Hall.


Disterhaupt was also named to the Minnesota Vikings all state team sponsored by the Minnesota National Guard. The Army National Guard names it all state team of the top 30 football players in the state every year.


Other players named to the all-state team honorable mention list included Running Back Michael Pender of the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels, Ezra Szczyrbak a junior offensive and defensive lineman for Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels was also named honorable mention this season.


Senior Robbie McQuade of the South Ridge Panthers was also named to the states honorable mention team. McQuade helped lead his Panther to the states semi-finals for 9man and he will be remembered for five interceptions over the course of the section 5 9-man championship victory over Cromwell and the state quarterfinals where he had three interceptions for the Panthers.
