Broman’s 44 Points Lead LCA Past Proctor

Anders Broman continued his assault on the all-time state scoring title on Thursday night as he continues to creep closer as the Lions of Lakeview Christian Academy knocked off the Proctor Rails by a score of 90-47.


Broman scored 44 points for the Lions as he led the Lions to 43 points victory at Proctor High School Thursday night. Broman with his 44 points on the night moved him only 67 points away from the 4000 point mark in the state score books and leaves him only 153 points shy of the state’s all-time leading scorer Kevin Noreen who finished with 4088 points for his career.


The Lions rolled out to a 54-19 halftime lead Thursday night and continued on in the second half as the Lions won their second game of the season to start 2-0 overall. The Proctor Rails with the loss drops their second consecutive game as the move to 1-2 overall.


Broman’s 44 points included Anders hitting one three pointer and he was 9-9 from the free throw line. Bjorn Broman had another nice night for the Lions as he finished with 20 points and he connected on four 3-pointers on the night.


Josh Plys added 10 points for the Lions, and Jonathan Hardstey had 8 points, while Josh Klum chipped in with 4. Marc Chiu and Mike Ender rounded out the Lions scoring with 2 points each. Plys also connected with three 3-pointers for Lakeview Christian Academy.


The Rails were led by Joe Thiry who finished with 15 for the Rails, Travis Carlson had 7 points, Henry Habermann and Andrew Hendrickson both chipped in with 6, Brett Pinney added 5 points on the night. Frank Napoli would add 3 points in the loss while Austin Tesser, and Jordan Carey both added 2 points in the loss.


The Rails again fall to 1-2 overall on the season and they are back in action again on Saturday when they will travel down to Pine City to face the Dragons in a section matchup Saturday afternoon. The Rails will play at Hermantown next Tuesday night in a Lake Superior Conference contest.


The Lions improve to 2-0 on the season, THEY will travel this Saturday to Hopkins High School AND play in the annual Breakdown Classic, which features the top teams from around the state in all classes of basketball. The Lions will face the Blake Bears on Saturday who are 2-0 on the season and ranked third in Class AAA. The Lions are currently ranked third in the boys Class A rankings
