Bulldogs Net 3-1 Semi-Final Victory – Move To Section Finals

The Carlton Bulldogs picked up a 3-1 victory over the Vikings of Little Fork-Big Falls as the Bulldogs advance to the Section 7A finals that will be held Saturday afternoon at Duluth Denfeld. Carlton knocked off the Vikings 27-25, 21-25, 25-17, and 25-22 for the four game victory over the Vikings.


The Bulldogs and the Vikings battled in the first game of the match as both teams were looking to gain the early advantage. Grace Macor had 6 digs and 3 kills to give the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead after the first match on the night at Virginia High School. Despite a strong performance from Carlton in the second game of the match, the Vikings came away with a 25-21 win in match number two.


The third game of the match saw Carlton rebound and pull out a 25-17 victory, Clarissa Nelson finished with 5 kills in that third game and Grace Macor added two more ace serves in the Carlton victory. Macy Belich added 5 digs for the Bulldogs as they took a 2-1 lead over the Vikings.


Carlton completed the victory with a three point 25-22 win. The Bulldogs will now move into the section championship match with a chance to advance to their third state volleyball tournament. Their last state appearance was in 2004. The fourth and last game of the match saw Nelson having 7 kills and Benson finished with 2 ace serves in the win.


The Bulldogs victory improves Carlton’s record to 22-7 overall; the Bulldogs will face North Woods, who defeated North East Range 3-1 Wednesday night in Virginia. The Grizzles enter their second consecutive section title match, last season the Grizzles fell to Cherry in the Section 7A title match.
