Section 7AA Volleyball Recap

The Section 7AA volleyball tournament got into full swing on Wednesday night with multiple games being played and no upsets in the making.

In the Sub-section 1 side of things it was Aitkin beating Moose Lake-Willow River; Mora defeating Pine City, Cloquet downing Hinckley-Finlayson and Esko romping over Crosby-Ironton. All four of those matches were won by 3-0 scores.

In Subsection 2 it was Hermantown taking a 3-0 win over Two Harbors, International Falls beating Eveleth-Gilbert 3-0, Hibbing winning 3-0 over Virginia in a match that featured longtime Hibbing coach Gail Nucech going up against her daughter Crystal Nucech-Duesler. In the final game Greenway took a 3-0 victory over Proctor.

In Friday’s quarterfinals in Cloquet it will be Aitkin taking on Mora and Hibbing playing Greenway. Also on Friday the other quarterfinal round will feature Cloquet playing Esko and Hermantown taking on International Falls in Virginia.
