It will be an all Duluth final in the boys Section 7A soccer championship game this week. On Tuesday night the Marshall Hilltoppers garnered a 4-2 win over Chisago Lakes, while Duluth Denfeld needed overtime, and a shootout, to take a 2-1 win over Grand Rapids.

The first half was a wild one between Chisago Lakes and Marshall with a total of five goals being scored between the two teams. Chisago scored back-to-back goals in the second and fifth minutes to set the Hilltoppers on their heels. However, the Hilltoppers answered quickly with four unanswered goals. A goal by Thomas Welinski in the 13th minute got things started for the Hilltoppers. Another goal from Jack Dodd in the 18th minute and a final first-half goal by Welinski in the 36th minute helped Marshall grab a 3-2 halftime lead.

The only goal of the second half was scored by Matt Klassen in the 36th minute that gave the Hilltoppers a two-goal margin and the lead for good.

Joe Gall made just three saves for Marshall, while Konner Doble finished with six saves for Chisago Lakes.

Steven Bradshaw gave the Denfeld Hunters a 1-0 lead early in the second half of their game against Grand Rapids, but the Thunderhawks rallied to tie the game on a late goal in the 79th minute by Tyler Rassmusson.

After a scoreless two overtime session the Hunters finally pulled the game out with three shootout goals. J.D. Foldesi, Bradshaw and Warren Rosholt scored for the Hunters to offset the Thunderhawk goal by James Lind.

Cam Dulong finished with 12 saves for Grand Rapids, while Hunter goalie Max Tollefson finished with five saves in taking the win.

Denfeld and Marshall will meet in the sectional championship game on Thursday at 8pm at Public Schools Stadium. The game was originally scheduled in Chisago Lakes but was moved to PSS because of the two Northern teams.
