UPDATE – CEC Jersey Wins Best Jersey Competition

The Cloquet Lumberjacks and the Warroad Warriors are in the finals of the State of Hockey’s best jersey competition as voted on by fans off the link from the Minnesota Wild’s Facebook page.

The two Northern schools will face off in fan voting until October 12th, when the winner will be unveiled. The winning submission for the jersey will get ice time at center ice during a Minnesota Wild game as well as a suite for a Minnesota Wild home game in the future.

The best jerseys in Minnesota were originally narrowed down to 32 teams based on fan submissions and voting on Facebook. The jerseys are the noted Purple Cloquet Jersey with the Lumberjack sewn on the front. Warroad has its black jersey with yellow lettering on the front.

Both teams advanced to this stage through the fan voting, Cloquet bested St. Cloud State’s white jersey in the opening round, while Warroad knocked out International Falls in the first round. The second round saw Cloquet winning over Bemidji State, and Warroad bested Roseau in the second round.

The third round saw Cloquet moving into the semi-finals as they again defeated St. Cloud State, this time it was the Huskies red jersey on the competition. Warroad advanced to the semi-finals with a victory over Lakeville North.

The semi-finals saw Cloquet getting past the Minnesota North Stars green jersey as they moved into the finals. The Warroad jersey took on what many thought might be the winner, the Minnesota Moose jersey, but it was Warroad who advanced and will face off with Cloquet.
