A strong surge in the second half by the Proctor girls soccer team helped the Rails take a 5-3 win over the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers.

With the game tied at 3-3 in the second half the Rails picked up a goal from Megan Sundstrom in the 53rd minute and then another goal by Kourtney Hjerpe just five minutes later to propel Proctor to the win.

The Rails started strong and took a 3-0 first half lead behind goals by Reilly Fawcett, an own goal and a goal by Brooke Oraskovich.

However, the Hilltoppers struck for three straight goals in the second half. First it was Kelly Alworth in the 47th minute, then Alworth again in the 49th minute and then two minutes later it was Callie Hoff who tied the score for Marshall. That set up the heroics of Sundstrom and Hjerpe.

The Rails put 18 shots on Marshall goalie Emily Couture who made 13 saves, while Rails goalie Kassie Haedtke finished with 10 saves on 13 shots.

Proctor finishes out the regular season strong having won four of their last six games heading into the playoffs.
