The C-E-C boys soccer team came out firing on all cylinders in their home opener held Monday evening at Bromberg field in Cloquet. The hosting Lumberjacks beat the Superior Spartans 3-0, picking up their first win of the season.

Freshman midfielder Jim Peterson started out the scoring by netting his first varsity goal in the 10th minute. The youth movement continued as sophomore Landon Straub got his second goal of the year in the 33rd minute, putting CEC up 2-0. Straub would then finish the scoring a few minutes later, placing the third and final goal of the game in the net with the assist going to Josiah Barrett.

CEC applied constant pressure throughout the game, forcing Superior to make 22 saves. C-E-C goalie Derek Schrecengost finished the evening with six saves.

With the win the Jacks are now 1-0-1 on the season. C-E-C will be back in action 10:00am on Friday as they host the Denfeld Hunters.
