Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) recorded a hat trick and Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) tallied three assists as the St. Scholastica women’s soccer team toppled Northland College 10-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The scoring came early and often for the Saints as Taylor Cunningham (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) found the back of the net off on a Logan Williamson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) assist in the sixth minute. In the 14th and 17th minute, the Saints struck twice with a pair of unassisted goals from Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS).

The Saints continued to apply the pressure, as Kehtel netted three consecutive goals in the 30th, 44th and 45th minutes, aided by a second assist from Williamson on the first goal and the first of Carlson’s three consecutive assists on her third score to complete the hat trick. Her second goal was unassisted.

In the second half, Alexi Bopray (River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) would fuel the Saints’ offensive fire with a pair of goals in the 64th and 68th minutes, her first goal off of Carlson’s second assist of the game, and her second score coming unassisted. Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS) and Kaylee Benson (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) also added goals in the 69th and 79th minutes to top off the Saints’ scoring.

Northland’s lone goal of the game would come in the 69th minute from Annette Elson on a penalty kick.

CSS keeper Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) made three saves in the win, as the Saints defense turned in another superb performance, only allowing five shots all game. Julia Fair made 14 saves for the LumberJills, who allowed 40 shots in the contest.
