RUSH CITY- The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels continued to roll Friday night as the Rebels pounded the Tigers of Rush City by a score of 61-20 in a conference and sectional match-up Friday evening.

The Rebels quick strike offense started the game that way again as Jake Disterhaupt scored on the very first play from scrimmage. Disterhaupt scored on a 46 yard touchdown run and with a Ben Moonen kick the rout was on.

The Rebels stopped the Tigers on their first drive and it was Disterhaupt again with the Rebels second touchdown as this time he scored an 11 yard touchdown following a long sustained drive by the Rebels offense.

The Rebels added another touchdown before the end of the quarter as Tony Adamczak connected with Isaac Coil on a 30 yard touchdown pass and the Rebels led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Rush City scored on a 6yard touchdown run from Jonathan Meilke to cut the Rebels lead down to 21-6. The Tigers touchdown run was aided by a 15 yard personal foul penalty, which was one of six personal foul penalties on the night.

“We have to stop with the penalties at in-opportune times,” Head Coach Dave Louzek told NSO. “We are overcoming them right now, but it we don’t correct them it could hurt us in the playoffs if we are still making those same mistakes.”

The Rebels Michael Pender scored a 65 yard touchdown run and BJ Young had a 20 yard interception return for a touchdown right before half and the Rebels led 35-6 at the break. The second half saw the Rebels continue to roll offensively as the Rebels scored four more rushing touchdowns on the night.

Young scored his second of the game in the third quarter and both Ben and David Moonen added touchdown runs for the Rebels. Josh Pettersen also added a touchdown run, as the Rebels improve to 6-0 on the season.

The Rebels also notched their 52 consecutive regular season victory in a row and will be back home on Thursday night when they will host Pine City in a conference contest. The Tigers fall to 2-4 and they will travel to Two Harbors next Friday night where they will face the Agates.
