Floodwood Sweeps Wrenshall in Volleyball

The Floodwood Polar Bears knocked off the Wrenshall Wrens Thursday night in a High School volleyball matchup between two Polar League Conference foes. The Polar Bears swept the Wrens in three straight games to win the match.


The Polar Bears knocked off the Wrens in the first game by a score of 25-13 to take a 1-0 lead. The Polar Bears then won the second game of the match by a score of 25-17, and the Polar Bears completed the sweep as they won the third game of the match by a score of 25-15.


Both teams were struggling entering Thursday’s contest. The Wrens had fallen in the last seven matches, while the Polar Bears only one once in the last 12 contests. The win by Floodwood was the second conference win of the season.


Floodwood was led by Sara Scharnberg who had 6 kills. Sydney Lough had 4 kills, 10 ace serves and finished with 10 digs to go along with 100% serving. Stacy Larva finished with 4 kills, she was also 100% serving, had 3 ace serves and had 9 set assists.


Chloe Swanson was 9-9 serving for the Wrens, and she added 6 kills and 6 digs. Delaney Kittel finished with 26 digs on the night, while Rachel Tyson added 6 set assists and she was 8-8 serving. Tatum Swanson was also perfect serving going 13-13 on the night.


Floodwood improves to 5-17 on the season overall and they will be back in action again on Thursday when they will host Barnum. Wrenshall falls to 3-10 on the season and they will host Moose Lake-Willow River on Tuesday night.
