Thunder’s Thompson Named MCAC Player of the Week

Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder defensive back Romont Thompson was named Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week for games played on the weekend of September 28-29, 2012.


Thompson had nine tackles, one interception, and two pass break-ups in the Thunder’s 20-12 victory over previously undefeated Ridgewater Community College on the road last Saturday. Thompson, a sophomore originally from Buffalo, New York, graduated from Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Maryland.


The 2012 Thunder Football team is currently in first place of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division with a 4-2 record. The Thunder host Mesabi Range Technical and Community College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, at Bromberg Field in a match-up of the top two teams in the Northern Division. Mesabi Range is currently the second-place team in the Northern Division of the conference. The Thunder and Mesabi Range are both 2-0 in the Northern Division.

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The football conference includes 10 teams which are divided geographically into Northern and Southern Divisions.
