CEC Girls Return 5-2 Favor Win Against Hermantown

It was a game of flip-flop in girls tennis on Monday afternoon as the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks defeated Hermantown 5-2. On September 4th the two teams met with the Hawks winning by the exact same score.

The match, or marathon of the day featured former Hawk player, Rachael Collier defeating her former teammate, Danielle Luke in a match that went to a tie breaker as Collier, who now plays for CEC, won; 6-4, 4-6 and 7-6 in number two singles.

Hermantown’s Madelyn Miller took a 6-3, 6-0 victory over CEC’s Breanne Baker at #1 singles. The Hawks also took their #3 singles match when Bailey O’Connell defeated CEC’s Arica Sheff 6-1, 6-2, but the Jacks bounced back and took the #4 singles match when Rosalie Lundquist defeated Stephanie Collins 6-4, 7-5.

CEC dominated the doubles matches starting at #1 where Alyssa Acheson and Reilly Kedrowski pulled out a 6-3, 6-1 win over Anna VanDeelen and Mariah Ruhanen. At #2 doubles the CEC team of Katrina Smith and Lora Chalich downed the Hawks duo of Elizabeth Carlson and Brianna Garcia-Meyers in a tight 5-7, 6-4 and 7-5 affair. Finally the Jacks solidified the win at #3 doubles when Courtney Ketola and Katelyn Litke defeated Elizabeth Heehn and Jordan Cuva by scores of 6-4, 7-5.
