FDLTCC Volleyball Garners Two Players of the Week Honors

Two Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Volleyball players earned Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division Player of the Week honors for games played September 10-15, 2012.


Thunder Volleyball student athlete Kaitlyn Psick was named Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division Setter of the Week. Kaitlyn set a new school record for the Thunder with 44 set assists in a 3-2 win over Vermilion last week.


Psick totaled 104 assists (8.0 per game average) in all games for the week to lead the offense and also added 31 digs (2.4 per game average) on the defensive side. Kaitlyn is a freshman from Saginaw, MN.


Thunder Volleyball student athlete Kourtney Karppinen was named Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division All-Around Player of the Week. Kourtney had an excellent performance last week for the Thunder, including setting a new school record with 25 kills in the win over Vermilion.


Karppinen recorded 42 kills (3.8 per game average and a .310 attack percentage for the week. In addition, she had 32 digs (2.9 per game average), 8 ace serves, 4 assists and 3 blocks. Kourtney is a freshman from Brookston, MN.


The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The volleyball conference includes 15 teams which are divided geographically into Northern and Southern Divisions.
